It was just about possible to make out the whole story unfolding here - but difficult to photograph properly

These mice are tiny, and hidden behind a perspex window. It made them very hard to see, because it was also quite dark

The Tale Of Two Bad Mice

I completely missed this little scene last time I visited the exhibition. Why? Because in order to see it you have to crouch right down and peer through a grille. I wonder how many others missed it? Really, you have to look in every nook and cranny here, just in case.

Jeremy Fisher, on a carousel on his pond. Look very carefully...

Looking across the Jeremy Fisher's pond it's just possible to make out some tiny characters in the background. We'll come back to that in a bit.

Here's Tom Kitten, all trussed up. This is one of many tiny displays let into a wall, way above head-height. Presumably small children can be hoisted on to Daddy's shoulders, but the rest of us just have to guess what we're looking at and hope the photos come out!

Even after seeing the photo I'm not entirely sure what this is. It's one of the above-head-height things that I had to hold the camera up to in the hope of getting something.

Tom Kitten again? At first I thought it was a rat, but closer examination reveals tabby markings.

Thankfully not all of the exhibits were hard to see. This one was lovely and light and airy compared with the previous few.

It really is very cleverly done.

You can appreciate the difficulties I had when you realise that the lady on the right is about my height. No wonder I couldn't see what I was photographing! Look carefully at the chimney breast - yes, those are the exhibits set into the wall above head height.

The attention to detail can be seen here - we're looking back to the roof of Hilltop. Remember the birds perched on the chimney? And yes, I *did* have a look down behind the wall to see if there was anything of note hidden away. Don't worry, you haven't missed anything.

There was something completely right about a little girl standing at the door. Her father didn't seem to mind my camera on his daughter.

Here's Emily in the greenhouse. It was very dark in here, and I've no doubt I missed several little gems.

Hidden away in boxes and between flower pots are tiny scenes. The quality of the next few photos is variable because the lighting was so poor.

I needed flash for all these shots, which was a pity because all the little cameos were behind protective windows.
