It was a lovely afternoon, so we went for a cuppa at Terry's snackvan on the A470

On the way back we stopped for a walk in the forest, and found this memorial. There's nothing to indicate to whom or why - it's just there.

Well - what can I say? In all the years we've driven past here we never knew this little oasis existed!

Nicholas and Emily quickly made friends

The path leads to the top of Pen y Fan, the highest point in south Wales

We've really been missing out on a gem, but now we know about it we'll be back

They're tiny, but they're happily swimming around in the shallow water in great profusion

Hard to believe that behind this dark, forbidding bit of forestry there's that beautiful river and 'playground'

On the way home we were divebombed by a red kite. It's far from easy taking pictures of birds from a moving vehicle.
